The Marketing Communications Intern will assist with the development and implementation of marketing communications strategies and programs related to business-to-business initiatives, issues management, media outreach, print and online collateral, as well as traditional and digital channels. In addition, the intern will provide support for the organization's corporate communication, public relations, event coordination, tradeshow logistics and related media and messaging efforts. This position will work closely with the entire marketing communications team and report to the Manager, Marketing Communications.
Assist with communication efforts to our key stakeholders: 500+ industry partners, board members and employees
Coordinate and post activity on Brand USA’s social media channels to ensure that key messages, stories and issues are communicated quickly and accurately
Provide logistical support for Brand USA’s Speaker’s Bureau
Support the daily coordination of communications functions for the international representation firms
Assist in event planning and meeting logistics
Route marketing, promotional materials and press releases for internal review and approval process
Provide administration for online merchandising system
Track various projects, provide coordination and manage internal databases
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communications skills, as well as familiarity with internet technologies and Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of MailChimp and basic HTML a plus
Team player with the ability to exercise good judgment in a rapidly changing and sometimes stressful environment
Proactive thinker with the ability to anticipate project needs
Highly organized and able to manage simultaneous tasks and projects
Interest and working knowledge of the tourism industry
Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program focused in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations. Experience in event management, communications, marketing, government relations, media relations, issues management, and/or equivalent experience preferred.
Fast paced, professional office environment with moderate noise levels
Must be able to use a computer at a work station for long periods of time and to accommodate potentially frequent interruptions
Brand USA’s business hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This is a paid internship which will be for 20-25 hours per week.
