The manager position assists the director of marketing & communications with all segments of Visit Winston-Salem's marketing efforts including the development and implementation of strategic marketing programs, analyzing, purchasing and tracking print and digital advertising, targeted ad word, SEO, and promotional campaigns for consumer as well as convention and meeting some sports projects. The position is also responsible for copy development primarily for local hospitality industry newsletter and organizing industry special events.
Monitors VWS’s Web site for accuracy, content, images, and timeliness of materials and performs necessary updates daily. Working knowledge of SimpleView CRM or similar preferred.
Create and curate fresh, compelling content, blogs, articles to improve SEO. Serve as the primary website administrator. Work in collaboration with website developers to manage SEM, SEO programs consistent with VWS’s destination marketing.
Assists the director and VWS’s contracted advertising agency with the production of collateral and advertisements.
Manages, submits, and tracks all consumer, convention and sports advertising placements and contracts with various print and digital media.
Provides research to assist senior management in making decisions regarding internet marketing and management.
Assists with the development of appropriate promotional programs to attract users to the Web site, with primary responsibility for the technical aspects of program.
Manages all contests and sweepstakes. Insures that all new entries are entered into/database on regular basis.
Creates necessary copy for all types of communications projects including in-house publications, advertisements, advertorials.
Coordinates the creative design and production of seasonal campaign and other support collateral including direct mail postcards, promotional banners, and special project brochures.
Works with Visitor Center Manager to maintain updated information on Visit NC’s ExtraNet site.
Compiles pertinent travel and tourism information and produces bi-monthly local hospitality e-newsletter.
Produces PowerPoint presentations.
Experience in the travel and tourism market and advertising/public relations agency is preferred. Must be organized, detailed-oriented, and can work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
