The Admissions Counselor II, under general supervision, identifies, recruits, and contributes to increasing the population of admitted, enrolled, and underrepresented students. Serves as a mentor, coordinates travel schedules and assignments, and develops recruiting plans.
Manage assigned geographical territory for recruitment purposes to include conducting research and goal setting; serve as the University?s single point of contact within that geographical area for schools, colleges, community & civic organizations and alumni as well as university officials; serve as the single point of contact for the students and parents initial introduction to Prairie View A&M University and required admission and financial aid documentations; develop and implement effective transfer recruitment and marketing strategies; travel in rental or personal vehicle to colleges, high schools and educational fairs to conduct presentations and seminars; serve on the University recruitment travel team to conduct recruitment seminars/workshops off-campus; assist the administrative staff in updating and retrieving Banner data.
Assist the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and New Student Orientation areas with developing and finalizing articulation agreements with two and four year colleges as well as student orientation sessions.
Collect, maintain and analyze retention and recruitment statistical data on high schools, students and community college profiles within your area of assignment to enhance the enrollment yield rates; participate in Pre-College and Orientation Programs aimed at providing recruitment pipelines. Performs other duties as assigned.
Plan and implement data driven special recruiting events within your assigned responsibilities and being prepared to augment out-of-state recruitment task force aimed at providing one-stop customer service to a distance prospective student
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor?s Degree in applicable field
One year of related experience in advising and recruiting
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Admissions functions of higher education.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:
May require a valid driver's license
Travel required. Work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
