JOB TITLE: Graduate Assistant - Athletic Marketing & Promotions JOB DESCRIPTION: Augustana University (SD) is seeking qualified applicants for a graduate assistant in athletic marketing for the 2017-2018 athletic year. The graduate assistant position is combined with a two-year graduate program, with a 12-month contract, which will begin June 1, 2017. Upon successful completion of the 12-month commitment, candidate will receive a consecutive 12-month contract to fulfill the two-year graduate program requirement. Candidate must be accepted and enrolled in the graduate program at Augustana University (SD), prior to the Fall of 2017. The graduate assistant will report directly to the Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing & Tickets. Duties include, but are not limited to; the development, implementation and evaluation of marketing and promotions plans for 19 NCAA championship sponsored sports; manage all aspects of the Viking Kids Club; work with the student-led fan group; coordination of all in-game promotions & event prep (i.e. script writing, etc.); develop content for e-mail marketing, web pages, video board and promotional materials; coordinate community engagement activities; lead student marketing team efforts for on and off campus outreach; assist with social media efforts; and assist with daily departmental operations.
Located in Sioux Falls, S.D., Augustana University is a member of NCAA Division II and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in marketing, business administration, sports management or related field. Prior experience in marketing (athletics or business), game management or promotions. Must have previous experience in graphic design, specifically with the Adobe Creative Suite. Must possess excellent writing, editing, and interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends on a flexible schedule. Represent the University and Department of Athletics in a professional manner. Quick decision making and problem solving skills.
Experience in marketing and promotions of college athletics (Division I, II or III), specifically experience in on-court/field talent. Experience working with Daktronics equipment. Demonstrated experience using social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat etc.) as a marketing tool.
