The Center for Government Excellence at Johns Hopkins University (GovEx) seeks an Associate Director of Marketing and Communications (JHU Req). This position requires a highly effective manager responsible for implementing successful and strategic marketing initiatives which increase the visibility and patronage of GovEx.
Specific responsibilities of the Associate Director of Marketing & Communications include:
Develop and execute a comprehensive and strategic marketing program that increases visibility, increases patronage, and improves program results for GovEx
Effective communication of GovEx's mission, programs and initiatives to a broad range of constituencies
Create brand awareness for GovEx
Facilitate innovative marketing and community partnerships
Oversee the production of all collateral in support of GovEx programs, initiatives, and courses Build relationships with media to secure local and national coverage in multiple platforms including social media, and online and print communications
Develop a multi-faceted, holistic approach to marketing efforts to build community alliances, brand awareness, social markets, and media relationships to develop support of GovEx
Create overall vision of the marketing and communications functions including integrating all marketing, press, and online communication strategies
Maximize opportunities in both traditional and new media to elevate the profile of GovEx, its mission, and programs locally, nationally and internationally
Implement strategic communications and determines target markets for promotional materials through appropriate channels such as print materials, electronic communications, broadcast communications, and social media
Identify meaningful and valuable speaking opportunities for GovEx staff o
Develop creative and collaborative marketing partnerships which demonstrate GovEx's leadership and position within the field of government data and analytics
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor's Degree in marketing, business, liberal arts or communication related field Four years of experience in strategic planning, marketing and implementation of integrated marketing plans. Three or more years of experience progressive management experience including managing staff and budgets, establishing strategic direction, and ensuring accomplishment of goals.

Familiarity with key WordPress, and other common communications tools and social media platforms

Past experience leading communications and marketing efforts wherein governments, public sector, and/or nonprofits are the primary audiences
Familiarity with GovEx practices and methodologies (such as open data or performance analytics)
